BLACKTOP was inspired by a woodtype typeface variously known as Gothic Bold, Jubilee, or Skidoo Caps. I've completely redrawn it for clean edges and consistent corners. I was attracted to the bold, top-heavy caps and numbers; the lowercase is my own invention, following the example of certain vintage fonts (Hobo, Publicity Gothic, Broadway) in which the descenders do not go below the baseline.
